  US seizes independent media sites
This is outrageous. Indymedia have played an important part in many campaigns, most notably anti-globalisation.

I have to take issue with RC who I owe for the heads-up. The very name 'Indymedia' allowed them to bat off attempts by the SWP and other organisations who wanted to use them to push their own agendas. Whilst I conceed we are all peeing into the same pot, I as an ex-SWP member am happy that they maintained there 'indy' status. If you want to attack a 'sectarian quagmire' then could I suggest a little navel gazing may be in order?

More at Indymedia.

Comments:
However, the very name IndyMedia, hasn't stopped sectarians of various shades - using the site to attack their political opponents on the web - rather than utilise the site for what it should be - a news feed to bring news that the mainstream media ignores. Days and Days go buy on IMC UK, where nothing interesting, except rants are posted. This contrasts with the way IMCs in other countries have become the newsource of choice for thousands of activists. Perhaps it's something to do with the water, more likely it's something inherent with left-politics in the UK. It certainly isn't the SWPs fault. Particularly as I am not aware, of any organised attempt by the SWP to "push their own agenda" through Indymedia. Unlike some organisations who simply re-publish whole tracts of their publications on the IMC news-wire. I would, as I have said in the past, rather every activist used the newswire to details their activist news and debate.
